Hugo was selected by a committee of her peers and received the award at the Hawaii Island Realtor annual installation Dec. 12 at the Waikoloa Marriott on Hawaii Island.

The Realtor of the Year is awarded annually to an individual who has exemplified the ideal spirit of a Realtor, whether it be a commitment to their profession or a commitment to the community. The awarding committee evaluates a nominee’s participation in the Realtor association, as well as community involvement in civic and charitable organizations.

The Realtor of the Year acknowledges an individual’s high principles, faithfulness to the Realtor Code of Ethics and efforts to further the principles of good real estate practice among other members.

Hugo is vice president and broker-in-charge at Clark Realty, Orchid Isle and serves as a director for Hawaii Information Service. Hugo became a Realtor in 2002 and served as president of Hawaii Island Realtors in 2011, president and chief volunteer of Hilo Habitat since 2009, Hilo Toastmaster since 2004 and is a Rotarian with the Hilo Bay Rotary Club.

Hawaii Island Realtors, a trade association, was founded in 1967 and chartered by the National Association of Realtors. It is the “Voice for Real Estate on Hawaii Island,” provides Realtors with tools for success and advocates for fundamental property rights on Hawaii Island.
